Electronics manufacturing software for serialized parts

Endpoint scans parts in at receiving, issues them to work orders and checks every unit at shipping, then sends the record back to the ERP you already run.

Trusted by 40,000+ operators since 1989.

Where electronics operations lose track

Serialized parts are where paper records cost the most: every unit is its own record, and every gap shows up later as a search.

  • Serial numbers on high-value parts get written down at receiving and typed in later.
  • The work order shows the parts the bill of materials called for, not the ones that were actually pulled.
  • A part sits on a bench for test or rework while the ERP still shows it on the shelf.
  • A unit comes back from the field, and finding out which component serials are inside it means digging through paper travelers.

What Endpoint does for electronics manufacturers

Each part is scanned at every step. What each step covers depends on your ERP; the table below has the detail.

Receiving

Parts are scanned against the purchase order as they arrive. Endpoint Cloud and Endpoint for Acumatica capture lot and serial numbers at receipt, and Endpoint for Acumatica reads GS1 and HIBC barcodes from the Small tier up, so one scan can carry the part number, lot and serial.

Serialized inventory

Endpoint Cloud keeps serialized inventory by location (zones, aisles, racks and bins) with every move scanned. Cycle counts run while the line keeps building.

Production

Parts are issued to the work order by scan, so the record shows what went into the build. For sub-assemblies, Procurement Automation (Sage 100 and Endpoint Cloud) plans purchases and work tickets from multi-level demand.

Shipping and tracing

Every unit is scanned at packing before it ships. Endpoint Cloud traces lots and serials forward and back, from receipt to shipment. Our post on how GS1 barcodes carry lot and serial numbers explains the format.

QuickBooks Online has no serial numbers, so serials live in Endpoint Cloud

Endpoint Cloud can also connect to Sage 100 on a schedule, though that connection does not sync bills of materials or work orders. On Sage 100, the Manufacturing packages cover material issue, labor tracking and completions.

What stays in your ERP

Design, engineering changes, MRP and costing stay in your ERP and engineering tools. Endpoint records the physical side: what arrived and which work order used it.

Design tools sit upstream. Endpoint starts when parts arrive at the dock and stops when finished units ship.

Frequently asked questions

What is serialized inventory?

Serialized inventory is stock where each unit carries its own serial number, so the system tracks individual units rather than a quantity. Electronics makers often serialize high-value components and finished units, so a single board or device can be traced through the build and after it ships.

Is Endpoint an ERP for electronics manufacturing?

No. Endpoint works alongside your ERP. It runs inside Acumatica, Sage 100 and Sage Intacct, and Endpoint Cloud connects to NetSuite and QuickBooks Online. Picking the ERP is a separate decision.

Does Endpoint handle electronics design or PCB layout?

No. Design tools sit upstream. Endpoint starts when parts arrive at the dock and stops when finished units ship.

What is the best manufacturing software for an electronics company?

It depends on what is missing. If your ERP handles the books and MRP but production still runs on paper, the gap is execution: scanning parts in, issuing them to builds and verifying shipments. That is the part Endpoint covers.
