Pick pack ship software runs the outbound half of a warehouse. It tells the picker which item to take from which bin, checks each pick with a scan, verifies the carton at the pack station and confirms the shipment back to the ERP, so the ERP shows what actually left the dock.
Most of the pick and pack software you will find in a search is built for ecommerce and third-party logistics: storefront orders, carrier rate shopping and a lot of small parcels. Endpoint is warehouse software for distributors and manufacturers that ship business orders out of their own ERP, often by the case or the pallet.
Scanning each pick catches the first one before the item leaves the bin. Our post on why barcode picking cuts mispicks covers the case for it.
Orders come from the sales orders in your ERP. The picker scans the bin and the item, and a wrong item is flagged at the bin, before it reaches the pack station.
On Endpoint Cloud, every item is scanned again at the pack station as it goes into the carton. Endpoint for Acumatica runs a quality check at pack, and Endpoint for Sage validates the shipment before it leaves the dock.
Packing lists and labels print from the same workflow through the label printing option for your product line.
The confirmed shipment goes back to the ERP. Endpoint for Acumatica posts it in real time. Endpoint Cloud sends it to NetSuite, QuickBooks Online or Sage 100, and with Sage 100 it syncs on a schedule you set, as often as once a minute.
What you can run depends on the Endpoint product that fits your ERP.
If the terms are new: batch picking pulls several orders in one trip. Wave picking releases a group of orders to the floor as one coordinated pick. Zone picking gives each picker an area of the warehouse and brings the order together at the pack station.
On Endpoint Cloud, Outbound is one of five workflows. You can buy it on its own or in the Warehouse and Distribution packages. See how Outbound fits with the other Endpoint Cloud workflows.
Distributors that ship to retailers and large accounts get asked for case labels, pallet labels and advance ship notices. Coverage differs by line:
For the hardware side, see how to choose a barcode label printer, or check the scanners and printers we support.
Your ERP stays where orders are entered, priced and invoiced. Endpoint runs the floor work against those orders and reports back what shipped. On Endpoint for Sage and Endpoint for Acumatica the software runs inside the ERP. Endpoint Cloud is its own system and connects to NetSuite, QuickBooks Online and Sage 100.

Pick and pack is the part of order fulfillment where the warehouse takes each item for an order from its storage location (pick), puts the order into a carton or onto a pallet with its paperwork (pack), and hands it to the carrier or your own truck (ship). In a distribution warehouse, the orders usually come from the ERP.
It depends on which part of shipping you mean. Carrier shipping software compares rates and prints carrier labels. Pick pack ship software covers the warehouse work before that: getting the right items into the right box and recording what left. When you compare vendors, ask which side each one covers and how it hands the shipment to the other.
For most distributors the ERP is the order management system: orders are entered, priced and invoiced there. Pick pack ship software works those orders on the floor. If your reps take orders on the road on Sage 100, Endpoint's Mobile Sales add-on takes those orders in the field and records proof of delivery.
